What "verified" should mean on a matrimony profile
A badge is only useful if you know what it covers. Here is exactly what ours does.
Identity
A government-issued identity document is reviewed against the name and date of birth on the profile. The result is recorded as a check with a date. The document itself is never shown to other members.
Contact
A phone number and email are confirmed by one-time code. This confirms reachability. It is deliberately shown as a separate, weaker check, because a working phone number is not an identity.
Photograph
Where a live photo check is completed, the profile shows that the uploaded photo matches a person present at the time of the check. It does not guarantee the photo is recent or unedited, so the upload date is shown alongside.
Everything else
Education, occupation, income, height, family details and horoscope information are self-declared unless a specific document check is completed. They are labelled accordingly. Treat a self-declared field as a claim to discuss, not a fact to rely on.
Questions people ask
Can someone fake a verification?
Any system can be gamed. Document checks raise the cost of a fake profile considerably, but they do not eliminate it. That is why contact is mutual and why we tell you which fields are unchecked.
Do you store my ID document?
The document is used for the check and handled under the retention policy stated at signup. It is never displayed to other members.
